Simple Elegance at Old Mill Toronto

Laurie-Ann and Paul were a dream couple to work with.  I enjoyed their laid back attitude and their joie de vi·vre.  Their wedding, held at the historic Old Mill Toronto was more than simply elegance and classy, it was filled with heartfelt love and tons of fun and laughter.

This couple did not cut any corners when it came to planning their wedding.  We did not spare a single detail.  Laurie-Ann was the bride that wanted to capture and preserve as many memories as she could of this special day.  During the ceremony, Laurie-Ann and Paul lit a unity candle which she made herself.  For the sand ceremony, they used coloured sand representing each of their birth colours.  At the reception hall, guests were greeted with a pianist playing steel pan, to pay homage to our bride’s Guyanese culture.  A long favour/escort table decorated with tall and sleek floral arrangements displayed the mini Rum & Coke packaged individually and labelled with each guest name & their table number.  She also had a personalized wedding money box (www.perfectcardbox.com) and displayed right beside it, was a frame with a collection of photos of the couple.  For their guest book, they had Polaroid photos taken of their guests and had them write love notes.  Another table, which I call the Tribute Table, had wedding photos of their parents, their 2 dogs and their engagement photo book.  Displayed right above that table is their “Love Story Board”.  They also explored the option of DIY.  For table number and menu holder, we used old wine bottles.  For the parents, I made special parents’ signs and labelled each of their reception seats.  Another special surprise to their guests, they had Portuguese dancers perform during the reception to pay tribute to Paul’s Portuguese culture.

Old Mill Toronto had a stellar staff, particularly, our Event Captain Alex was on point with everything we needed for that day.  Aside from that, all the vendors that I had a pleasure of collaborating on this event were all amazing.

As speeches and kind words from family and friends were said, great food and wine served and music played throughout the night, Laurie-Ann & Paul truly celebrated this day.

I was blessed to have met Laurie-Ann and Paul and I am truly honoured that they chose me to be a part of their wedding.
